Radiology at Bradford Teaching Hospitals and Canon Medical UK are pleased to offer a unique Level 2 Cardiac CT course combined with clinical cardiac CT scanning sessions
"Easy reading comes from a good acquisition"
Dr Mark Kon, Consultant Radiologist
Dr Kon started training in Cardiac Surgery before turning to Radiology where he has maintained an interest in Cardiac Imaging. He has developed the cardiac CT service at Bradford for over 10 years and now provides a busy coronary CT service for the region. He is a Level 3 accredited trainer with both SCCT and BSCI and has run over 30 workstation based courses in cardiac CT.
"Easy reading comes from a good acquisition"
Dr Kon believes that reading cardiac CT is the easy part! Obtaining a good quality scan in the first place requires the clinician to know how studies are acquired to optimise a diagnosis.
"You can get CPD anywhere, but we give you practical workstation and real live clinical scanning!"
The Course
Dr Kon believes learning cardiac CT should be available to busy doctors without having to pay a premium. This course is designed to minimise time away from work and demand on study leave by overlapping a weekend. Costs are kept to a minimum thanks to the support by the Radiology Department at Bradford Teaching Hospitals. Dr Kon insists on maintaining a high quality course by limiting numbers to 12 candidates to enable each candidate to learn on their own workstation. Dr Kon will personally run all aspects of the course without delegation to give you an all encompassing view of managing a CT service. Unlike a hotel based course this course will be run in the Radiology Suite just upstairs from the CT scanning room which we will visit to see acquisition of live cases. The emphasis of the course in on live acqusition and we strongly recommend that you obtain formal lectures CPD by attending any relevant meetings such as BSCI.
Live cases
By running the course within the radiology department we are able to offer the unique experience of scanning live patients over two Cardiac CT sessions, half on 16cm wide detector and half on 4cm z-axis coverage. You will visit the scan room to watch acquisition and to see how we deal with unexpected events. This offers the opportunity to interact with staff and Dr Kon about all practical aspects of acquisition including patient prep, US guided cannulation, GTN, BBlocking, phase reconstruction and ECG editing. Candidates will be expected to respect the confidentiality of patients being scanned.
